A Mind of their Own

Published by avlmcgrew at 4:36 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

They say two year olds are notoriously “terrible”….well, I’m not so sure I agree with terrible, but mine certainly has a mind of her own…

I can see her thinking. When I ask her a question, while trying to decide if it will be worth the punishment to pinch her baby sister, while shes “reading” her new bible…in all things that she does. It’s adorable. BUT, it also makes me aware that i am not the one making decisions for her anymore. Sure i still make the big ones, but she is in the drivers seat for her day to day decisions now. She picks out her clothes. They rarely match but I think its adorable. She puts them on. Backwards, of course. She puts her shoes on (wrong feet), decides what she wants to eat (almost always its a hot-dog), which way she wants to lay in her bed (upside down of course). Its not the way I would do things, but she has a will of her own. I swear I hear “Sweet Girl do it” 600 times a day!! (I love how two year olds refer to themselves in 3rd person).

Some days it frustrating. I just have to remind myself that if I encourage her, it will help her grow into a strong confident young lady……

I think I’ll go eat a hot dog now :)

God Bless You

Ashley

    Ashley,

Welcome to the board! We are thrilled to have you here.

Those children. They are something. I think it’s fabulous you permit her to be her, and allow her to make some small decisions on her own.

Most parent’s ego would not permit allowing their child to go out with mismatched cloths. Good for you putting yours aside. That is what will make you a great exciting mom and your daughter a well-rounded confident person ready to tackle life when older.
